Why a Waste Separator Machine?

The importance of separation in food waste processing and recycling

We all know that waste is a big issue for businesses, manufacturers, councils and society as a whole.  This includes food waste as well as other packaged materials.  Part of the challenge in processing this waste is that most cannot be accepted straight into the manufacturers process but requires separation from some form of outer packaging first.

In the case of organic materials, a good waste separator machine – or specifically a food waste separator – is crucial in separating food from non-organic packaging such as plastics, metal or glass and is key to reducing contamination within onward uses such as animal feed or biogas production.  Clean, separated waste makes for higher quality products that can be reused for agricultural or energy purposes.

Other waste separator machines exist in the form of trommel machines, which separate based on the size or shape of the material, however a depackaging machine can separate material from the packaging it is contained within.  Similarly, a shredder may be able to cut through material to release the inner material, but cannot separate out the different materials alone – reducing resource recovery and increasing cost via the need for further processing.
