Meet the team

Over 100 years of collective expertise

Dominator Depackaging is run by Rowan Food and Biomass Engineering, a family business based in Gloucestershire, serving customers globally.

Phil Rowan - Dominator Depackaging team

Phil Rowan, Managing Director

Phil focusses on machine engineering, innovation and product development. With qualifications in mechanical engineering, his experience lies in animal feed mill engineering and management and in his previous role he was Chief Mechanical Engineer responsible for 18 feed mills. He has designed and commissioned new feed mills across the UK, Saudi Arabia and South Africa and started his own business in 2007.

His design of the Dominator Depackaging Machine is now a core part of our business, and the continuous improvement of this solution, alongside wider consultancy work, keeps him on the frontline of the business.

Outside of work, Phil is a family man who loves spending time with his grandchildren and a passion for anything with an engine.

Matthew Rowan, Director

Matt qualified as an electrical engineer, however his interests took him to more industrial type work and he went on to gain experience in roles doing maintenance for a heat treatment company, as well as a credit card manufacturer. He joined the business in 2013 as a Project Engineer, later progressing to Director, and now focusses on the sale and commissioning of our flagship product, the Dominator Depackaging machine.

Outside of work, Matt has two young daughters and is a sports enthusiast, enjoying every sport but especially football and golf.

Ken Spreadbury - Dominator Depackaging team

Ken Spreadbury, Project Engineer

Ken joined Rowan Food and Biomass in 2024 as a Project Engineer, responsible for managing the design, manufacture and delivery of individual machines, projects and spares.

Ken brings a wealth of experience, having served a 5 year apprenticeship with an agricultural machinery manufacturer before going on to train as a draftsman, working alongside leading designers and engineers. Initially working as a draftsman for a petro-chemical engineering firm, he went on to grow his experience within a project engineering company, later becoming a Director responsible for the design and construction of grain handling, processing and storage projects throughout the UK – often in excess of 150,000 tonnes of storage capacity.

When he’s not working, Ken is a keen cyclist and can also be found tinkering and riding his classic motorcycles. Music is also a big part of his life, having played in brass bands and groups for over 50 years.
